La Jolla

La Jolla is a strikingly wealthy place: at one point I stopped at a red light, and the five cars surrounding my trusty Sonata were three BMW's, a Mercedes and a Ferrari. Surfers and bikers are ubiquitous -- and the bikes are not of the fifty-dollar-a-pop Walmart variety like the two fine (already broken) exemplars which decorate the interior of my garage (they are good only for decorating as they are next to useless as a means of transportation).
