Driving around ...

US Map

Well, one way to look at it is:

Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusettes, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, West Virginia, Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, DC.

Although that really was not the plan. I drove the first time because I figured I would have to have a car once I arrive in California, and a friend in New Jersey happened to be selling his Hyundai Sonata. There was also the issue of boxes, which I somehow had to ship from Philadelphia to Riverside. And then there was the Grand Canyon, which I wanted to see at some point. So, I bought a car and drove.

Second time around I wanted to see the Devil's Tower (never quite grew over Close Encounters of the Third Kind; yes, I consider myself lucky that Steven Spielberg didn't land the aliens in Missoula, Montana). And, a car in Indianapolis was a handy thing to have.

As it was in Princeton.

You get the idea.
