Linear Draft was founded in September, 1995 in Belgrade by
Borko and Rastko. Srba joined later on, during 1996. Finally, Istok became
part of the band somewhere during the Student Protest of 1996/97. Come
late 1997, the band decided to go public and present its work. It
started with the radio. The first single to hit the charts was "Jazzy
Fields", which had a big success in Belgrade. Reaching the first places
of some of Belgrade's radio charts (B92, Studio B, Radio Politika),
this jazzy-house tune with very nice and recognizable theme expanded
the circle of their listeners and sympathizers.
Linear Draft haven't released any albums yet, but they are well-known
and people like to listen to their works. "Jazzy Fields" was followed by
an TV interview on Studio B, and many appearances on the radio stations
later on. The first gig - live act was held in club Plima, where we
worked with Boris Petrovic and DJ Milan Drca, but the real
thing happened in club Industria (in association with Kozmik DJs, Vlada
Janjic and Gordan Paunovic) on 24.04.1998. Following were
appearances at club Plima with DJ Milan Drca and two more, solo at Urba Bar
(Barutana).
In July 1998, Srba moved to New Zealand, so now he's considered
to be a distant (modem) member.
The music they make is not strictly bound to genres. It is, as they see it,
a way of expressing thoughts and emotions, and is limited only by that.
