Mapping Flight Trajectories

This map has slowly grown on me. Initially, I found it to be on the boring side because there aren't all that many data points in there -- the intrinsic dimensionality of the underlying data is just not particularly high. Flight trajectories are often pairs and rarely more than triplets of 2-dimensional coordinates.

However, I kept on flying and 20 years later this map has become one of the best records of what I've been doing. Degrees of nodes very effectively show places where I lived, and roughly for which proportion of time (to a first approximation, because airfare varies considerably based on where you fly from and I have flown more often after I graduated and got a real job). It shows places that I have ties to and the fact that I have multiple of them, as well as one-off travel destinations.
